#premonitionch5 If my memory serves my right, this was the first day of principle photography for Premonition. In this scene, the script was simply written as the main character Jonah sitting in his posh apartment contemplating on his recent misadventures while drinking a glass of Japanese whiskey. Simple as that. Two thoughts came across my mind when I read it for the first time. One, no lines needed to memorize so I can have fun with it. Two, maybe it won't even make it to the final cut. As a hired talent, it's our professional responsibility to deliver no matter how small or unimportant a scene might be. A scene is a scene, so treat it like it is your last. Period. With this in mind, I was looking forward to have some one on one time with my new altered ego. As the day progressed, the simple supposed transitional scene came to life. As soon as I sat down, I began to to let my mind wonder wherever it wanted to go. For the first time in a long time, getting the scene right was not a priority. I just realized having been committed to television acting in Asia for so long that I picked up on a few bad habits. One of those was getting the scene right so the director and producer won't have your head cut off for wasting time. Like most thespians would say, "consistency is death of good acting." Fortunately for me, our director Gavin Lim trusted in the process and just let things be. Put it this way, the man didn't direct the hell out of the scene, he simply trusted the actor and crew. This is where half of the magic was created. As for the other half, our DP Timur Civan took care of that. I remember him saying, " Johnny, you see that spot on the table. Your hand is gonna look like it's on fire when you reach for the whiskey." Boy was he right. Not only did the scene made it to the final cut, it turned out to be one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. No words. No TV acting(although it's a tv series). No over the top reaction shots. Just me, myself , and my #japanesewhiskey. Thank you @usernamestupid @timurcivan for #makingmagichappen
